Oak Tree Tavern
About This Spot
Stepping into Oak Tree Tavern feels like discovering a comforting local secret nestled quietly along Forest Road. There’s an inviting warmth in the air—a gentle mix of soft lighting, cozy nooks, and the subtle hum of friendly conversation. Time moves at a relaxed pace here, where the noise of the outside world softens and the focus shifts to good company and simple pleasures.
This unpretentious spot blends the ease of a neighborhood tavern with the thoughtful touch of a place that knows how to weave hospitality and atmosphere together. The bar serves as a subtle backdrop to moments that matter, where conversations linger over carefully poured drinks and hearty meals that feel like a nod to home cooking rather than a formal menu. The kitchen’s take on comforting dishes like various parmas echoes the tavern’s easygoing charm—familiar, satisfying, and just right for settling in.
Oak Tree Tavern comes alive not just through its food and drinks but through an authentic rhythm of community and music. Evenings here often welcome local musicians strumming acoustic sets that enhance the overall sense of connection without overpowering the room. Whether it’s the weekly open mic nights or spontaneous blues sessions, the live music creates a shared pulse, drawing in both regulars and newcomers alike.
More than a place to eat or drink, Oak Tree Tavern offers the feeling of a true neighborhood gathering spot—a refuge where laughter is genuine, staff remember your name, and the soundtrack is always just right. It’s the kind of venue where hours slip by unnoticed, swept up in the ease of good company, warm lighting, and moments you don’t want to rush.

Great meals plus super enjoyable Thursday musos night with Sammy Owen. Staff are very friendly. In addition Wednesday nights Frank Carnavale of Mojo Mafia runs the Eastern Blues Association's open mic with a guest blues musician. Gotta love'm and the venue.

I don’t usually go to bars, but this cozy hideaway caught my eye from the street. The ambiance was inviting, with soft lighting that created a warm, relaxed atmosphere. The bar menu offered a great selection of drinks. One of the highlights was the live music—an acoustic set that added to the cozy vibe without being overwhelming. It felt like the perfect backdrop for conversation. The crowd was light, which made for a more intimate experience. Overall, this is a hidden gem that offers a great escape from the usual bar scene.

First time here tonight. Staff are soooo friendly, great atmosphere and the live music was fantastic (Jason is on the 1st Sun of the month ) and if you love Elvis etc this is the place to be..... Rex the owner is funny , querky and great to talk to. The patrons are friendly too as you would expect from alot of British expats. The food is great and well priced. I would give it 5 stars if it wasn't for 2 things....1..they ran out Guinness !! And 2 , the bathrooms could have been better.. But my wife and I really do love this place and could become regulars..

Dropped in for a quick drink. Nice atmosphere. $20 for a cruiser and a bottle of Melbourne Bitter seemed a tad pricey.
